SUPERIOR, Wis. - The weather in Superior is starting to dwindle from the summer down to the cooler fall temperatures, but that hasn't stopped the men's soccer team from competing at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex. Coming into game two of the Superior Super Series, temperatures were hanging in the low forties, and even though the air temperature was cool, the action on the turf was red hot.

Built Different and Earn It were going after each other from the opening kick-off, with the teams showing more intensity and physical play than the previous match. The ramped up intensity worked for Earn It, as it turned the tables on Built Different, winning 4-2 Friday to even the fall series at one win apiece.

In the seventh minute, junior Blake Perry (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) worked his way through traffic in the box before finding the back of the net with a left-footed shot for his first goal of the series, putting Earn It up, 1-0.

Both teams displayed physical defense on both ends of the field until a foul by Built Different gave Earn It a free kick 20-yeards from the goal. Miguel Ocampo (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) took the free kick and found open space in the net, going up high to set up Earn It with a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.

The second half of play featured some stellar goalkeeping. Cole Bergman (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) for Earn It and Payton Anderson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) for Built Different both made save after save in the early stages of the last half of play.

In the 57th minute, Sam Waylee Jr. (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Morning Glory International School) was on a breakaway for Built Different but Bergman came off of his goal line to block the shot by Waylee and keep the game at 2-0. Four minutes later however, Superior native Brandon Conklin (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) took a shot and scored for Built Different, making it a one-score game.

Built Different played aggressive offense and kept Earn It on the defensive end of the field for the next five minutes until Andy Rowland (Andover, Minn./Andover) found an open Waylee Jr. to tie to the game at two goals apiece.

Built Different would continue to play keep away with the ball until Earn It's Nicolai Stokker (Klokkarstua, Norway/St. Hallvard) would break away from the defense and find teammate Blake Perry (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) for a left-footed shot into the back right side of the net for his second goal of the night and a 3-2 lead for Earn It.

Earn It would not stop there, as in the 84th minute Jefri Damas (Fridley, Minn./Fridley) took a shot forty yards from the goal only to be blocked by a defender. The ball caromed into the air and Ocampo launched a rocket and scorched the back of the net to give Earn It a two-goal cushion, and essentially seal the game.

Following Friday's action Earn It and Built Different both sit at 1-1 heading into their best-of-three playoff series. The quest for the Super Series title begins Saturday, October 17 at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex. The match will kick off at 3:00 p.m.
