MARQUETTE, Mich. – The UW-Superior softball team pounded out 13 hits, scoring multiple runs in the first, third and sixth innings to defeat Finlandia, 9-1, in six innings at the Superior Dome on Sunday.

Ashley Taipale (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and classmate
Amanda Kishish (St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis) turned in her second complete-game win in as many days in the circle for the victory. The Yellowjackets dropped their final game of the tournament, 8-0, to Concordia Wisconsin to finish 2-2 on the weekend.
Against Finlandia, UWS received hits from all but one starter and six runs and eight hits from the top four in the lineup. Kishish,
Tiffany Kirk (McHenry, Ill./McHenry East) and
Alayna Tulip (Arcadia, Wis./Arcadia) each scored twice.
Kishish limited the Lions (1-3) to three hits and an unearned run while striking out four. She was 1-for-4 at the plate with a double to go with the two runs.
Superior led, 3-0, after the first inning. Kishish led off with a double to center field and Kirk walked. Tulip followed with a single to load the bases with no one out. Taipale singled to left, scoring Kishish for the lead. Finlandia pitcher Briza Saucedo was then relieved by Denia Bent, who induced a RBI groundout from
Davriana Horvath (Esko, Minn./Esko).
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) added the third run with a groundball to second to score Tulip.
Up, 3-1, in the bottom of the third, the 'Jackets added three more for a 6-1 advantage. Tulip opened the inning with a single, stole second and advanced to third on an error. Then, with one out, Horvath reached on an error at third base to plate Tulip. Kraemer tripled to right field, scoring pinch-runner Briana McGrath to make it 5-1.
Bailey Kinnunen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) singled home Kraemer.
Taipale added an RBI single in the fourth, plating Kishish with two out. Horvath ended the game in the sixth with a one-out, two-run single to left field, chasing home
Jessica Jacobson (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Southern Door) and Kirk for the win.
Concordia Wisconsin's Nicki Becker threw a one-hit shutout in the second game of the day. Tulip spoiled the no-hit bid with a second-inning double to left, but the Falcons (4-0) scored three runs in the second and third and one each in the fourth and fifth for the win.
Superior is back in action Feb. 29 with a 6:30 p.m., doubleheader against Bethel in Dundas, Minn.
