ST. PAUL, Minn. – UW-Superior men's golf sophomores Taylor Burger (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and Cody Stanisich (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) have been named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference First Team, the league announced Monday.
 
Senior Sam Albrecht (Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) earned an honorable-mention selection as well as being named the Yellowjackets' representative on the UMAC Sportsmanship Team.
 
Burger is second on the team and sixth in the league in scoring average through the fall season at 79.33 in 12 rounds over seven events. He's posted two top-five and two top-10 finishes this season. Burger boasts Superior's only under-par round of the year, firing a 1-under 70 in the NCU Invitational on Sept. 22, finishing second in that event at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.
 
Stanisich is third in the conference with a 77.07 average in 15 rounds and eight tournaments this year. He has finished in the top five four times and in the top 10 on five occasions. Stanisich's low round of the season came in the MLC Invitational, a 73, to finish second at Oakdale Golf Club on Oct. 2.
 
Stanisich was also named UMAC Player of the Week on Sept. 13. 
 
Albrecht is fourth on the team in scoring at 81.4 in 15 rounds this season. In eight tournaments, he has two top-10 finishes with a season-best 75 coming in the opening round of the UMAC championship.
 
The Yellowjackets finished third in the conference tournament with a three-round total of 77-over 941 last weekend at Pebble Creek Golf Club. UWS takes a break from competition for the winter before opening the spring season in April.
