Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) made it stand making five saves for his first collegiate clean sheet as the UW-Superior men's soccer team nipped Bethany Lutheran, 1-0, on Saturday.

Protus Babaya (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) was all the offense the Yellowjackets needed. On the play, Perry slipped the ball past Bethany Lutheran goalkeeper Nick Lundburg low on the left. The goal, also assisted by
Brandon Conklin (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), was Perry's 10th of the season.Â

From there, Paredes (9-4-0) made saves on Max Busch in the seventh, 63rd and 83rd minutes as well as Julio Castanon in the 50th. He also turned aside an effort from Liam Peterson just 45 seconds into the match.

Superior led, 17-15, in shots and 7-5 in shots on target. Lundberg made saves
Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy) in the 35th minute,
Blake Doyea (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) and Babaya in the 51st and 53, respectively, and
Nicolai Stokker (Klokkarstua, Norway/St. Hallvard) in the 82nd. Lundberg (7-4-0) also stopped Doyea in the 84th and Perry in the 85th minute.Â

With the win, UWS improves to 9-6-0 overall while pulling into a tie with the Vikings atop the UMAC standings at 9-1-0. BLC drops to 9-5-0 overall.
