MINNEAPOLIS – Three UW-Superior volleyball players reached double figures in kills as the Yellowjackets hit .321 on their way to a 3-1 win over North Central in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action at Clark-Danielson Gymnasium on Saturday.

UWS won by set scores of 25-14, 25-17, 20-25 and 25-15 with junior
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior), sophomore
Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) and freshman
Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) putting down 13, 12 and 11 kills, respectively, to lead a 55-kill attack. Superior had just 13 hitting errors on the day to record its second-highest attack efficiency of the season, which included a .469 mark in the first set and .419 in the deciding fourth set.

Superior improved to 10-15 overall and 8-4 in the UMAC, while dropping North Central to 8-14 and 5-7. UWS led in kills, 55-46, service aces, 7-6, assists, 43-41, and digs, 54-53.

Senior
Megan Holz (Savage, Minn./Burnsville Senior) directed the offense with 24 assists while junior
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) picked up 13 assists and 13 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Holz, Teff and Pryd added two aces apiece.

The 'Jackets jumped out to a 10-5 advantage in the first set, closing a four-point run with the help of a Rams' hitting error. A kill by Pryd and Teff ace pushed the lead to 17-11. Superior won the set with three kills by Stark, one from Teff and an ace by Holz to take a 1-0 lead in the match. UWS posted 17 winners in the opening period.

Superior used a 5-0 run for an 8-3 lead early in the second set. Freshman
Jenna Anderson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) ended that stretch with an ace. North Central rallied to cut the lead to 10-9, but UWS regained momentum, taking a 20-16 edge with a kill from sophomore
Kielan LaPlante (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield). Following an NCU kill, a swing by Plautz ignited a five-point run that gave the visitors a two-set lead. A Holz ace, a second kill by Plautz and two errors from the Rams ensured the set victory.

After dropping the third set, the 'Jackets put the match away in the fourth with another 5-0 stretch for separation. Up, 15-12, two Plautz kills and an ace from junior
Hailey Atwood (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) highlighted the run, and another Teff ace later ensured the win.
Superior returns home Tuesday to host UW-Stout Tuesday at 7 p.m., in its final non-conference regular-season match.
