SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior volleyball team received at least six kills from four players and hit .325 as a team in a sweep of Crown on Senior Night at Mertz Mortorelli Gym Friday.

The Yellowjackets won by set scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-8 and were led by freshman
Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) with 15 kills and junior
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) with 11. UWS totaled just nine attack errors in 102 swings with 48 kills in the match and limited the Crown to an .097 hitting efficiency with just 24 kills and 13 errors.

The Storm (2-18, 0-13 UMAC) provided little resistance after the first set that saw it hold a 12-10 lead early and battle back to being down just 17-16. From there, Superior (11-16, 9-4) closed the set on a 9-1 run that featured three kills by sophomore
Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River). Junior
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) gave UWS the set with a winner, assisted senior
Megan Holz (Savage, Minn./Burnsville Senior).

Trailing, 7-6, in the middle frame, the Yellowjackets used a 13-1 spurt to take control. Four players contributed kills while Pryd served up three aces – including two consecutive – for a 15-7 advantage. Leading 22-13, the 'Jackets got kills from Pryd and sophomore
Autumn Bremness (Cadott, Wis./Cadott) and benefitted from a Crown error to win the set.

Superior led wire-to-wire in the third with runs of four, five and seven unanswered points to close out the match.

Holz and Teff dished out 20 assists apiece while freshman
Jenna Anderson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) totaled 23 digs. Pryd completed a double-double with 15 digs of her own.

Prior to the match, UWS honored its two seniors – Holz and O'Brien – for their contributions to the program.
