Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Yellowjackets Rout Crown, 18-0, for Regular-Season UMAC Title

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's soccer team laid claim to the top seed in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference tournament with an 18-0 rout of Crown at Old National Bank Stadium on Saturday.
 
The Yellowjackets and Bethany Lutheran tied for the top spot in the standings at 13-1-0 to be co-regular-season champions with UWS earning the No. 1 seed on goal differential. Superior (14-6-0 overall) hosts fourth-seeded Northwestern in the UMAC semifinals at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
 
On Saturday, UWS used a hat trick from senior Blake Perry (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) and two goals apiece from sophomores Carter Tess (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and Phillip Eriksen (Skjetten, Norway/Lorenskog) and freshman Aaron Shartin-Folkert (Hudson, Wis./Somerset). 
 
Other goals came from Scott Wilson (Ladybank, Scotland/Bell Baxter), Brandon Conklin (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), William Maanstroem (Oestersund, Sweden/Jaemtlands Gymnasium), Blake Doyea (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) and Nicolia Stokker among the starters. Reserves who registered goals included Blake Hanson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), Archie Gjerdrum (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park), Drake Schramm (Cloquet, Minn./Esko) and Zach Tiemeyer (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee).
 
UWS, which scored nine times in each half, did not allow a shot to the Storm while putting 28 on goal and firing 42 total. Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and Payton Anderson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) each played a half, with Paredes earning the victory. Crown goalies Foster Browning (seven saves) and Tim Stariha combined to stop 10 shots.
