ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The UW-Superior women's soccer team completed an unbeaten Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season slate on Saturday, blanking Crown, 4-0, at Old National Bank Stadium.
The Yellowjackets received goals from four different players a day after winning their first-ever conference regular-season crown. Sophomore
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) scored her 17th goal of the season in the 10th minute on a
Claire Smith (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) assist to get things going. Freshman
Maggie McAlister (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) then potted her first career tally in the in the 48th minute from
Annah Schussman (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) to make it 2-0.
Emma Street (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis) scored her first of the season in the 66th minute from McAlister before Schussman scored 10 minutes later for the final margin. Street assisted on the Schussman goal for a three-point day.
Superior (15-3-1, 12-0-1 UMAC) outshot the Storm, 32-5 overall, and 20-3 in shots on frame in the match. Crown goalkeeper Molly Schmitz made 16 saves as Crown fell to 4-13-1 and 2-11-1 in the league.
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) improved to 14-2-1 in the win. She made two stops in 62 minutes before being relieved by
Morgan Philliber (Apple Valley, Minn./Edina), who made one.
The Yellowjackets host fourth-seeded Minnesota Morris Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the UMAC semifinals at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
