INDIANAPOLIS – After winning its fifth consecutive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championship, the UW-Superior is headed to NCAA North Park Regional, the organization announced Monday.
The Yellowjackets take on Washington University in St. Louis in the first round Saturday at Holmgren Athletic Complex on the North Park campus. The Bears, who earned an at-large bid out of the University Athletic Association, are 12-2-1 on the season.
UWS defeated Bethany Lutheran, 2-1 in overtime, on Saturday to earn the UMAC automatic qualification to the field of 64. Superior won UMAC titles in in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. The 'Jackets also won the WIAC crown in 2013.
The Yellowjackets are led by senior forward
Blake Perry (Anoka, Minn./Anoka), who is tops in the UMAC in goals (19) and assists (20) for 58 points to average 2.64 per match. Perry assisted both goals in the championship win and had a goal and two assists in the semifinal to earn tournament MVP honors.
The winner of the four-team regional advances to the sectional round Nov. 19-21.
