SUPERIOR, Wis. – UW-River Falls scored three goals in the third period to top the UW-Superior women's hockey team at Wessman Arena Wednesday.

Kora Torkelson broke a 1-1 tie at 5:19 of the third for the game-winning goal, assisted by Alex Hantge and Callie Hoff. UWRF added two more just 1:35 apart from Maddie McCollins at 14:37 and Reilly Springman at 16:12 for the final margin.

The Yellowjackets got on the scoreboard first when
Tessa Jorde (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) scored her third goal of the season off of assists from
Hannah Magnusson (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) and
C.C. Hayes (Fort Frances, Ontario/Fort Frances) at 11:24 of the first period.

UWS (2-1-0) held the lead until 12:08 of the second when Brooke Walters beat goaltender
McKenzie Whalen (East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks) on a 5-on-3 advantage. Springman and Sophia Leong assisted on the play.

Whalen made 29 saves in the Superior net, while Jordan O'Connoer stopped 10 shots for River Falls (5-0-0).

UWS went 0-for-2 on the power and UWRF was 1-for-3 with an extra skater.

The same two teams finish their home-and-home series Saturday at Hunt Arena in River Falls. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
