EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire used goals from Tayler Meier, Dehli Heikes and Emma Petersen and goaltender Stephanie Martin made 15 saves to shut out the UW-Superior women's hockey team at Hobbs Ice Arena Friday.

With the win, the Blugolds swept the two-game series from UWS and improved to 5-0-1, while the Yellowjackets fell to 2-3-0.

Superior goalie
McKenzie Whalen (East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks) kept her team in it for a second straight game, while making 30 saves, and kept off the board until Meier found space at the back door for a 1-0 lead at 8:18 of the second period. Heikes doubled the lead 3:10 later on a feed from Morgan Zirbel.

Peterson closed the scoring as she tucked a backhander in the net over Whalen's shoulder at 11:20 of the third period.

The 'Jackets held Eau Claire scoreless on five power-play opportunities and came up empty on three of their own.
