SUPERIOR, Wis. – Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River),
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) and
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) all tallied double-digit kills to help the UW-Superior volleyball team sweep the season series with Northland, winning 3-1 at Mertz Mortorelli Gym on Thursday.

The Yellowjackets, who are receiving 30 votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll, improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the UMAC with the 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 25-11 victory.

Plautz finished with 15 kills, Pryd 14 and Teff 10 to pace the attack.

Superior led in kills, 54-43, blocks, 6-1 and digs, 74-72, while hitting .210 to Northland's .073.

Pryd and Teff each completed double-doubles with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.

The LumberJills opened the match with a 10-6 advantage in the first set before UWS ran off six straight points to take a 12-10 lead on a Northland error. The 'Jills battled back to knot the set at 18-18 and 19-19 before UWS claimed six of the last seven points to go up, 1-0.

Northland took seven consecutive points in the second set to earn a 13-10 lead and later won the final six points of the set to even the match at a set apiece.

The 'Jackets rebounded in the third set to retake the lead in the match. Up 10-9, Northland committed six consecutive errors, giving UWS a 15-10 lead. Northland cut the lead to 17-16 on a Bailey Wynn kill, but could get no closer in the set as Teff finished it off with a kill from
Megan Holz (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) for the two-point victory.

Superior cruised to seal the match in the fourth set, winning 10 straight points for an 18-9 advantage. UWS closed the match with a 6-0 run that culminated with a block by Teff and Plautz.

Holz directed the offense with 45-of-50 assists on the night.
Elise Ertl (Phillips, Wis./Phillips) added a match-high 19 digs and
Hailey Atwood (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) contributed 17.

Northland, which fell to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the UMAC with the loss, was led by Justine Litherland with 10 kills and Wynn with 17 digs.
