MINNEAPOLIS – Protus Babaya (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) scored three goals and two assists to lead the UW-Superior men's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over North Central at Elliot Park Field on Wednesday.
Babaya tallied the first two goals of the match 11 minutes apart in the 10th and 21st minutes, and completed the hat trick with a marker in the 58th minute, assisted by
Blake Perry (Anoka, Minn./Anoka).
UWS led, 3-0, at halftime as Babaya assisted on
Miguel Ocampo's (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) goal in the 28th minute. Perry got into the act with a 70th-minute goal with a Babaya assist.
Mason Tynsky (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) closed the scoring in the 84th minute with an assist from
Dylan Hanegraaf (Rose Creek, Minn./Austin).
Ulrik Lager (Vollen, Norway/Asker VGS) earned his fourth career clean sheet, making two saves. The Yellowjackets outshout North Central (0-1-0) 32-2 for the match, including 17-2 on frame. NCU goalkeeper Michael Machuca made 11 saves in a losing effort.
Superior improved to 3-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the UMAC with the win.
UWS returns home to host Bethany Lutheran Saturday. Kickoff at NBC Spartan Sports Complex is 3:30 p.m.
