ST. PAUL, Minn. – Following its fourth consecutive conference championship, the UW-Superior men's soccer team put nine players on the 2020 All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Teams for men's soccer, the league announced Wednesday.

Senior defender Scott Wilson (Ladybank, Scotland/Bell Baxter) was named UMAC Defensive Player of the Year and freshman forward Phillip Eriksen (Skjetten, Norway/Lorenskog) earned UMAC Rookie of the Year. In all, four Yellowjackets picked up first-team and three second-team honors. Forwards Blake Perry (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) and Protus Babaya (Elk River, Minn./Elk River), midfielder Miguel Ocampo (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) and defender Wilson were named to the first team. Midfielder Archie Gjerdrum (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park), defender Noah Merritt (Woodville, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville) and goalkeeper Ulrik Lager (Vollen, Norway/Asker VGS) were second-team selections. Defender Jefri Damas (Fridley, Minn./Fridley) earned an honorable-mention nod. Additionally, Sam Waylee Jr. (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Morning Glory International School) was Superior's representative on the UMAC Sportsmanship Team.

Wilson anchored a backline that surrendered just eight goals and 6.7 shots per match in 12 outings. He played 910 minutes, scoring four goals and one assist for nine points. He also converted a penalty in the season opener at Northland on March 30, a 5-1 win. With Wilson's selection, UWS has won the last six Defensive Player of the Year awards dating to 2015.

Eriksen scored five goals and two assists for 12 points in 11 matches in his debut season. He scored a season-high two goals and one assist in a 9-0 win against Crown on April 14, the middle match in a stretch of three consecutive with goals.

Perry earned the third All-UMAC selection of his career and second first-team pick. He tallied 13 goals and nine assists for 35 points in 12 matches with three game winners. Perry scored at least one goal in all but one match this season, bagging two on four occasions, including the UMAC championship match against Bethany Lutheran.

Babaya added six goals and seven assists for 19 points in 10 matches in his first season on the Yellowjackets' active roster. He scored a hat trick in a 6-0 victory at North Central on April 7 and added goals at Northland on March 30 and in both matches against the Vikings on April 10 and May 8.

Ocampo claimed his first first-team selection this season after being an honorable mention in 2019. He scored four goals and was second on the team with eight assists for 16 points. Ocampo scored game-winning goals at Northland on March 30 and at Minnesota Morris April 17.

Gjerdrum earned an All-UMAC section team selection of the first time in his career after scored two goals and three assists from the midfield. Both of his markers were game winners and came one match apart versus St. Scholastica April 28 and Northland May 5.

Merritt played 887 minutes in the back while starting all 12 matches, helping UWS limit the opposition to 0.67 goals per game.

Lager started 11 of the Yellowjackets' 12 matches and turned in seven clean sheets to earn his first all-conference honor. Lager made 31 saves on the year with an .816 save percentage.
