SUPERIOR, Wis. – Nicole Wishard, a digital marketing and creative content specialist in the UW-Superior Athletics Department has resigned her position to take a similar position at the University of Mississippi, known more familiarly as Ole Miss.
 
Wishard came to UW-Superior in August 2020, the beginning of a two-year appointment as part of the NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women in Sports Grant.
 
"Video production is an area that we really hadn't done much work in over the years, and this internship grant allowed us the opportunity to bring someone in to help us with that avenue. From day one, Nicole provided incredible work that was really well-received by the student-athletes, alumni, and fans," said UW-Superior Athletic Marketing and External Relations Manager Jon Garver. "We knew our time with Nicole was limited, but it ended a year earlier than we expected. This is a digital content position at a major NCAA Division I school in one of the Power Five conferences. We're thrilled for Nicole to have this opportunity and know she is going to do great things in Mississippi."
 
Wishard spent hundreds of hours shooting and producing videos for the athletics department, ranging from a welcome back to campus video to get to know you videos to team hype videos. All of the videos Wishard produced can be found on the Yellowjacket Athletics YouTube channel.
 
Wishard's first day at Ole Miss was July 6, and with her departure, UW-Superior is once again searching the position, looking for a candidate to fulfill the second year of the grant.
 
"These internships provided by the NCAA are such invaluable tools for so many young people looking to get their start in college athletics. It did exactly what the internship was supposed to do, but like I said, it happened a year earlier than we expected," Garver said. "At the same time, we're excited about to have the opportunity to bring someone else onto our team to continue the great work Nicole and our athletic communications and marketing staff have done."
