MANKATO, Minn. – Junior
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) put down a match-high 19 kills, adding 16 assists, to lead the UW-Superior volleyball team to its second consecutive sweep to open UMAC play Friday over Bethany Lutheran at North Gym.

The Yellowjackets won, 25-18, 25-17, 25-20, in just 73 minutes, improving to 4-8 overall on the season.

Pryd hit .279 with just seven errors on 43 swings to pace a Superior attack that collected 43 kills and hit .194 as a team.Â

Junior
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) recorded a double-double of 15 assists and 12 digs, while senior
Megan Holz (Savage, Minn./Burnsville Senior) directed the offense with a team-best 20 assists in the win.

Knotted at 8-8 in the first set, the Yellowjackets used a 7-1 run to take a 15-9 advantage, forcing a Vikings' timeout. Kills by
Jordyn O'Brien (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior),
Autumn Bremness (Cadott, Wis./Cadott) and Pryd highlighted the stretch.Â

Bethany Lutheran was able to pull to within one at 18-17, but UWS put the set away, winning seven of the next eight points.

Superior led wire-to-wire in the second set, registering 14 kills and a team-best .205 set hitting percentage in the stanza. Pryd closed it with a service ace, one of her team-leading three on the night.

Bethany (2-11, 0-2 UMAC) claimed the first two points of the third set before the 'Jackets reeled off six straight; a run punctuated with a block from freshman
Rilie Kupka (Eagan, Minn./Burnsville Senior). UWS held a 4-3 edge in blocks for the match.

The Vikings got back to within 6-4, but Superior carried the play through the rest of the set to seal the match.Â

Alexis Morsching led BLC with nine kills and Maddi Wendland had 15 assists.
