HAM LAKE, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's golf team shot 37-over-par 325 in the final round of the Augsburg Invitational to finish 12th overall at Majestic Oaks Golf Club on Sunday.
The Yellowjackets carded a 63-over 639 for the tournament and were led for the second consecutive day by sophomore
Taylor Burger (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), who posted a 5-over 77 on the 6,675-yard course. Burger collected the only three birdies recorded by Superior's top team on the day. He birdied the par-5 first, par-4 14th and par-3 15th holes to go with eight pars, finishing tied for 17th on the weekend at 9-over 153.
Senior
Sam Albrecht (Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) and sophomore
Cody Stanisich (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) each shot 81 to close the tournament. Albrecht had nine pars in his second round to tie for 68th at 21-over 165. Stanisich tied for 54th overall following an opening-round 80 for 17-over 161. Stanisich posted 11 pars Sunday, but also recorded double bogeys on the first and 10th holes.
Freshman
Brayden Tyman (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior) and junior
Charles Martin (Blainville, Quebec/École internationale Lucille-Teasdale) each registered 86 Sunday. Tyman tied for 70th at 22-over 166 with six pars in his final round. Martin tied for 65th at 20-over 164. He collected nine pars in the second round.
The 'Jackets' 'B' team finished 16th overall with a 42-over 329, five strokes better than its opening round, to close at 87-over 663. Freshman
Ian Bundy (Austin, Minn./Austin) paced the team with a 79 to tie for 77th overall at 24-over 168. Bundy had birdies o the par-4 seventh and par-3 12th holes. Classmate
Sam Frazee (Cook, Minn./North Woods) shot 82 for a tournament total of 19-over 163 to tie for 61st. Frazee drained two birdies on the par-4 second and par-5 16th.
Freshman
Conner Willard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) shot 83 in the second round to finish tied for 68th at 165. He birdied the 15th hole to go along with eight pars.
Sophomore
T.J. Sitek (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) shot 85, finishing tied for 83rd at 29-over par, while junior
Bryce Wainio (Mountain Iron, Minn./Mountain Iron-Buhl) carded an 86 on his final round to tie for 79th at 25-over par.
Saint John's took the team title by three strokes over Gustavus Adolphus, posting a two-day total of 591, including 289 on Sunday. The Gusties' Wyatt Wasko was 1-over par in the second round hold off SJU's Nate Loxtercamp for medalist honors at 1-under 143.
UWS returns to action Monday looking to defend its UMAC Preview championships from the last two seasons at Pebble Creek Golf Club. First tee time is set for 10 a.m.
