SUPERIOR, Wis. -- Sophomore

The Yellowjackets (8-3-3, 8-0-1 UMAC) wasted little time getting going, scoring goals 39 seconds apart in the third minute, and didn't look back on the way to a five-goal first half. Holmquist -- who now leads the team and is second in the UMAC with 11 goals -- scored at the 2:07 mark from junior
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and sophomore
Erika Schneider (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West). Junior
Allison Alessi (Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake) tallied her sixth goal with 2:46 on the clock to make it 2-0 from
Erika Schneider (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West) and Holmquist.
Holmquist scored her second of the night from sophomore
Ava Giswold (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) in the 22nd minute, while freshman
Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld), the UMAC Offensive Player of the Week, bagged her ninth of the season from Giswold in the 26th minute. Classmate
Beth Schneider (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West) registered her first collegiate goal, assisted by Giswold and sophomore
Brenna Mattson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior), in the 31st for a 5-0 lead.
Wilson, who returned to the lineup after missing five matches due to injury, pushed the lead to 6-0 four minutes into the second half. Her fourth goal of the season was unassisted.
Holmquist finished the hat trick in the 59th minute with an assist from junior
Tori Vosburg (Cloquet, Minn./Esko) before Martin Luther got on the board through Naomi Foley 10 minutes later.
Giswold scored her third of the season in the 77th for the final margin.
UWS outshot Martin Luther, 35-9, for the match and held a 23-4 advantage in shots on target.
Sophomore
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) started in goal for UWS, making one save in the first half prior to making way for freshman
Quinn Clark (Duluth Minn./Duluth East), who made two saves. Lang improved to 7-2-1 in picking up he victory. Martin Luther's Grace Sievert went the distance for the Knights, turning aside 15 shots. She fell to 4-8-2 on the year, the same overall mark as MLC as a team. The Knights are now 2-6-1 in league play.
