LA CROSSE, Wis. --Â UW-La Crosse shot 49 percent from the floor, scored 42 points in the paint and 34 off of turnovers in an 87-35 victory over the UW-Superior women's basketball team Friday to open the Gundersen Hotel & Suites Thanksgiving Classic at Mitchell Hall.

The Eagles scored the game's first seven points and led start to finish, improving to 7-0 on the season. UWL was up 19-8 after one quarter, 43-17 at halftime and 63-29 through three periods.

Katie Dobson (Black River Falls, Wis./Black River Falls) found senior
Kaelyn Christian (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville Senior) for a 3-pointer with 3:45 remaining in the first quarter to cut the Yellowjackets' deficit to 11-7, but La Crosse closed with a 7-2 run and did not look back. Christian led UWS (2-3) with 10 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Dobson and junior
Bryton Kukowski (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown) tallied six points apiece. Dobson also pulled down a game-high-tying six boards.

Gabby Ritchie was the only Eagle in double figures with 12 points, leading a group of seven players scoring at least seven points each.Â

UW-La Crosse forced 29 turnovers and outrebounded Superior, 38-20.

In all, 16 players saw the court and 13 scored in the loss as the 'Jackets shot 24 percent from the field, making 11 field goals.
