NEW ULM, Minn. --Â Four players landed in double figures as the UW-Superior men's basketball team blitzed Martin Luther, 94-58, in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play at the Luther Student Center on Saturday.

The 36-point margin of victory for the Yellowjackets is the largest since a season-opening 97-52 win over Finlandia in the 2021 Merrill Thompson Classic.

Sophomore
Reid Johnson (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) scored 24 points for the second consecutive game, shooting 9-for-14 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range, to lead all scorers. Senior
Josef Fahrenholtz (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) added 17 points and six rebounds, while juniors
Joey Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and
J'Vaun Walker (Rosharon, Texas/Manvel) chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively, as UWS improved to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Martin Luther's Seth Veers scored the game's first bucket four seconds in before Superior used a 14-2 run in three-and-a-half minutes to take control. Fahrenholtz had six points and Johnson five in the stretch that gave UWS its first double-digit lead. It grew to 14 points at 31-17 when Barker hit a jumpshot in the lane at the midpoint of the half, and 20 at 45-25 as Walker canned a jumper in transition inside the final two minutes. UWS led, 49-27, at the half, shooting 47.5 percent from the floor.

Johnson hit a trey with 10 minutes remaining to push the UWS advantage to 72-42, and the 'Jackets led by as many as 39 as late as sophomore Luke Fahrenbacher converted a layup with 1:19 to play.

In all, 18 players saw the court with 12 scoring points. UWS outrebounded the Knights, 44-34, scored 50 points in the paint and 21 off of 22 Martin Luther turnovers.

Veers tallied 20 points and five boards for Knights in the loss.
