EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Fifth-ranked UW-Eau Claire scored twice in the second period and three times in the third for a 5-0 non-conference victory over the UW-Superior women's hockey team at Hobbs Ice Center on Wednesday.

Madison Garberdingscored at 2:32 of the second period and Danielle Slominski added a power-play goal at 18:12 of the period to lengthen the lead. Samantha Scherling and Hanna Zavoral registered third-period power-play markers at 2:18 and 8:29, respectively, to double the advantage.

Addie Young closed the scoring at 10:25 of the third period for the final margin.

UWS senior goaltender
McKenzie Whalen (East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks) made 40 saves, including 17 in the second period and 15 more in the third, falling to 3-9-1 in the loss. UWEC's Stephanie Martin picked up the shutout in the Blugolds' net with eight saves.

UWS (6-10-1) went 0-for-2 on the power play while Eau Claire (18-2-0) was 3-for-6.
