Â
Offensively, the Yellowjackets banged out 24 hits and 30 runs to improve to 22-6 overall and 9-1 in the UMAC.
Â
Game 1 -- UW-Superior 21, North Central 0 (five innings)
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) was perfect through 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts before allowing a Katelynn Fox walk. Fox -- the only North Central player beyond first base in the game -- then reached second on a passed ball. She walked again in the bottom of the fifth, advancing to second on an error.
Â
Kraemer induced five fly-ball outs in the contest and four on the ground. She put the finishing touches on her first career no-no by getting Sydney Harmon to strike out looking to end the game.
Â
UWS got all the offense it needed in the first two innings, including using a nine-run seven-hit top of the second frame to take a 10-0 advantage. Superior sent 14 batters to the plate in the inning and received a two-out, two-run triple from
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) to make it 4-0 and RBI singles by
Tiffany Kirk (McHenry, Ill./McHenry East) and
Ellie Macal (Winona, Minn./Cotter) for a 6-0 lead.
Â
Jessica Jacobson (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Southern Door) coaxed a bases-loaded walk for the seventh run and
Bryton Kukowski (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown) reached on an error at second base to plate
Norah Schmitz (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) and
Zoe Thomson (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson). Jacobson gave the 'Jackets a double-digit edge scoring on errant throw from the catcher as Kukowski stole second.
Â
UWS tacked on six runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth for the final margin.
Â
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and three runs scored atop the batting order. Kirk and Kukowski also notched multiple hits. Jacobson scored a game-high four times and added two RBIs while Kirk (three), Kukowski (three) and
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) (two) each also drove in at least two runs.
Â
North Central (9-20, 2-10 UMAC) used three pitchers with starter Carla Mendoza (0-2) lasting 1 2/3 innings. She gave up eight runs (five earned) on eight hits before giving way to Catherine San Miguel and Harmon.
Â
Game 2 -- UW-Superior 9, North Central 0 (five innings)
Luoma allowed a leadoff walk to the Rams' Emma Cochran to open the game, but did not allow another player to reach until Brooke McGlinchey walked with one out in the bottom of the fifth.
Â
Luoma got five groundouts and four fly-ball outs in her outing.Â
Â
UWS scored three runs in the first once in the second and five times in the fifth for the run-rule victory.Â
Â
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and six of her eight stolen bases on the day in the second game.
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) scored twice while Kirk and Thomson were the others with multiple hits.Â
Â
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) singled to start the game, stole second and third, scoring on a passed ball for the early lead. After a
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) walk and steal, Kirk tripled to center field to make it 2-0 followed by a Thomson RBI single.
Â
Up, 4-0, heading to fifth inning, consecutive doubles by Kirk and Thomson with no one out pushed the lead to 7-0. Later, Macal added an RBI double of her own and Kukowski a run-scoring single for the final score.
Â
Hosanna Gattle (3-8) went the distance for the Rams, allowing 10 hits, nine earned runs and four walks. She struck out three.
