SPOONER, Wis. -- The UW-Superior men's golf team fired a 48-over-par round of 332 to win the Yellowjacket Invitational at Spooner Golf Club on Wednesday.
The UWS team of
Ian Bundy (Austin, Minn./Austin),
Nate Burke (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld),
Taylor Burger (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior),
Brayden Tyman (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior) and
Cody Stanisich (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) beat the Yellowjackets' second team in the tournament by nine strokes to capture the title. Sophomore
T.J. Sitek (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) shot 5-over-par 76 finishing one stroke back of Casey Parker of St. Olaf for the individual title.
Bundy was third overall with 77 on the 6,449-yard par-71 course.
Charles Martin (Blainville, Quebec/École internationale Lucille-Teasdale), playing as an individual, shot 9-over 80 for fourth place. Burke tied for fifth at 12-over 83, while Burger was one stroke behind.
Tyman shot 88,
Myles Hektor (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest), also playing as an individual, carded 92 and Stanisich 93.
Bryce Wainio (Mountain Iron, Minn./Mountain Iron-Buhl) was 11th overall, shooting 87 for the 'B' team, which posted a 57-over 341 on the day.
Trey Shaw (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Regional) and
Conner Willard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) each shot 89 and
Sam Albrecht (Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) had a 90.
Minnesota Morris (357), Northwestern (360) and St. Scholastica (381) rounded out the five-team field.
The Yellowjackets close out their spring season at the Martin Luther College Invitational Turday. Tee time at New Ulm Country Club is 10 a.m.
