Goals in Bunches, Bellamy Hat Trick Pace Men’s Soccer at Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- Sophomore Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy) notched his first career hat trick to lead the UW-Superior men's soccer team in a 6-0 victory over Crown in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action at Old National Bank Stadium on Friday.

The Yellowjackets, who improved to 5-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the UMAC, scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the match, including one from sophomore Mackie Ringrose (Ewhurst, England/St Peter's Catholic School) just 27 seconds in. Freshman Freddy Watson (Wendover, England/Berkshire College of Agriculture) assisted on the opener as well as senior Brandon Conklin's (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) goal in the ninth minute that made it 2-0.

Bellamy converted a kick from the penalty spot with 14:58 off the clock for his first of the day and a 3-0 Superior lead.

UWS added three goals in six minutes in the second half for the final margin. Bellamy tallied his second from Nicolai Stokker (Klokkarstua, Norway/St. Hallvard) in the 54th before Gavin Watkinson (Lakeville, Minn./Farmington Area) put home his second of the season in the 59th. Bellamy completed the hat trick in the 60th with his second penalty-kick goal of the match and fourth tally of the season.

Goalkeepers Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) split time in the UWS net, combining for the clean sheet. Paredes (5-1-1) drew the start and made one save in 63 minutes to earn the victory. Sessions went the rest of the way, stopping two Crown (1--7-2, 1-2-2) shots.

Leo Roque took the loss in the Crown net. He stopped four shots and gave up all six goals in 61 minutes. Max Henderson made six saves in the final 29 minutes.

UWS is back in action Saturday at 4:30 p.m., at Minnesota Morris.
