SUPERIOR, Wis. -- Sophomore goalkeeper
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) turned away five shots as the UW-Superior women's soccer team played Hamline to a scoreless draw in non-conference action at NBC Spartan Sports Complex on Sunday.
Lang made three saves after halftime to cement the fifth shutout of her career, helping the Yellowjackets earn their first result against the MIAC's Pipers in nine all-time meetings dating to 1998.
Hamline (1-0-1), which began the season with a 2-1 home defeat of UW-Stout on Thursday, carried much of the play against UWS. HU outshot Superior, 23-8, overall despite the 'Jackets holding 60 percent possession throughout the match.
UWS (0-1-1) received two shots on goal from sophomore
Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo), while junior
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and sophomore
Emma Fornengo (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) each had attempts on target, as well.
Hamline goalkeepers Lauren Sicora and Ava Braun split time in the visitor net with Braun making three stops in the second half.
Cailey Schmitt paced the Hamline offense with two shots on goal.
The Yellowjackets next close their season-opening three-match homestand with a date with Stout Tuesday at 4 p.m.
