HANCOCK, Mich. --Â The UW-Superior men's basketball team placed four players in double figures and cruised to its sixth consecutive win over Finlandia, 83-49, at the Paavo Nurmi Center on Tuesday.

With the win, also the Yellowjackets' sixth consecutive overall, UWS owns its longest winning streak since winning six in a row Jan. 25-Feb. 15, 2020.

Sophomores
Reid Johnson (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) and
Andrew Kunelius (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia) paced UWS (9-6) with 13 and 12 points, respectively, while junior
Joey Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and senior
Josef Fahrenholtz (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) added 10 apiece in the win. Kunelius, who pulled down six rebounds as well, hit a three-quarter court heave at the halftime buzzer to give Superior a 44-22 lead.

Barker was one rebound shy of a double-double, hauling in a game-high nine boards, as the 'Jackets held a 57-28 advantage on the glass. UWS secured a season-high 19 offensive rebounds.

Tied at 15-15 with 9:15 remaining in the first half, UWS used a 24-3 in a run over 7:40 to put the game away. Superior went 8-for-17 from the field in the stretch with Johnson leading the way with six points. Barker, Kunelius,
J'Vaun Walker (Rosharon, Texas/Manvel) and
Ty Melchert (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) also contributed four points apiece.Â

UWS shot 48.5 percent in the first half on 17-for-35 from the field to build the lead. UWS posted a strong free-throw shooting effort, too, connecting on 23-of-27 attempts for 85.2 percent.Â

The lead ballooned to as many as 38 points at 67-29 when
Carter Brown (Eau Claire, Wis./Regis Catholic) gathered an offensive rebound and converted a layup with 10:33 left in the game. Lions worked the deficit below 30 once the rest of the way as Jack Matrella knocked down a 3-pointer with 3:59 to play to make it 75-46.

All 18 active players saw game action for UWS and 14 scored points.

Finlandia (3-15) was led by Octavius Johnson with seven points and five rebouds.
