ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Yellowjacket men's soccer team traveled to Old National Bank Stadium Saturday afternoon to face Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival Crown College. The Yellowjackets would defeat the Polars 4-1, closing out their regular season with a win before moving onto the UMAC tournament next week.
With the Yellowjackets already locked into the No. 1 seed for the UMAC tournament, a number of players who don't regularly start saw significant playing time and contributed to the win.
The Yellowjackets got off to a quick start in the first half with an early goal.
Jacob Wyles (Watlington, Oxfordshire/FAB Academy) would take a low center shot That got past the Crown goalkeeper to put the Yellowjackets in front 1-0. We should also mention how early it was.
Crown would answer the Yellowjacket goal just minutes later, in the seventh minute, when Luke Kamm would take a shot that would find the top left corner of the net. Ashton Hosler would be credited with the assist with a tie game 1-1.
Seconds into the second half, the Yellowjackets would break the tie, as
Isaac Becket (Surrey, England/The Sixth Form College Farnborough) would take a low left shot to give the Yellowjackets a 2-1 lead in the 46th minute of the match.
We would not see any more scoring until the 77th minute of the match when
Drake Schramm (Cloquet, Minn./Esko) would take a high right shot, finding the back of the net, giving UWS a 3-1 lead.
Alfie Hudd (Exeter, England/Exeter College) assisted.
In the 83rd minute of the match,
Bryce Boldt (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) would secure the lead with a lower left goal giving the Yellowjackets a 4-1 lead.
Starting in net for the Yellowjackets,
Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) would get his 18th start of the season. Paredes would face zero shots in the first half. Starting in net in the second half was
Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College), as he would finish out the last 45 minutes and would save the one shot on net for the match.
Up next for the Yellowjacket men's soccer team they will host Northwestern on Wednesday, Nov. 1 to open UMAC playoffs. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
