Six Different Yellowjackets Score in 7-0 Shutout of Crown

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team finished out its regular season on the road facing Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponent, Crown College, shutting the Polars out 7-0.
 
After securing their third consecutive UMAC regular season championship last week, the Yellowjackets clinched the one last regular season win before playoffs start next week.
 
Wasting no time, Erika Scheider scored an unassisted goal in the 12th minute of the game to start the Yellowjackets off 1-0.
 
In the 21st minute of play, Ava Giswold (Duluth, Minn./Proctor), would score her first of the match, unassisted, giving the 'Jackets a 2-0 lead.
 
Minutes later, Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), would net one her own in the 25th minute to add another tally for UWS, giving them a 3-0 lead. Wilson, the leading scorer for the Yellowjackets, finishes the regular season with 23 goals and 55 points.
 
The Yellowjackets set the tone for the start of the second half very early when Giswold would get her second of the match to give the Yellowjackets a 4-0 lead in the 46th minute.
 
In the 61st minute, Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) would get her first of the game and her 16th of the season. Holmquist would end the regular season with a total of 42 points.
 
Less than five minutes later, Lindrey Schendel (Firestone, Colo./Skyline) would be fifth to score for the Yellowjackets this afternoon advancing the lead 5-0.
 
Two minutes later, Beth Schneider (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West), the sixth Yellowjacket to find the back of the net this afternoon, would give the Yellowjackets their seventh and final goal of the match, for a final score of 7-0.
 
Starting in net for the Yellowjackets, Quinn Clark (Duluth Minn./Duluth East) would total one save, shutting out the Polars. Clark, who started in net ten games this season, is now 8-4-3 and would earn her sixth shutout this season.
 
The Yellowjackets are back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 1 for the first round of UMAC playoffs when they will host Crown. Kick off at the NBC Spartan Sports complex is set for 4:30 p.m.
