SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior women's soccer team was back at home Saturday with more conference play, facing up against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) competitor Minnesota Morris on senior day. The Yellowjackets honored lone senior,
Kaitlyn Raisch (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins). After Saturdays 4-0 win over the cougars, the Yellowjackets are back in the win column.
Off to a slow start the Yellowjackets would find themselves a late first half goal in the 37th minute.
Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) would net herself a goal with a high right shot to get the 'Jackets on the board leading 1-0 going into the second half.
In the second half the Yellowjackets would find themselves off to a quicker start. Just five minutes in,
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) with a low center shot in the 50th minute would give UWS a 2-0 lead. Holmquist could be credited with the assist.
Just two minutes later, Wilson would keep things rolling with another low center shot on goal to give the Yellowjackets a more comfortable lead of 3-0.
Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) would round it out for the 'Jackets, Scoring the final goal of the match, her third of the season to make the final score 4-0.
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) made her sixth start of the season and would face two shots on net, saving both earning herself the shutout. With Saturdays win, Lang now holds the program record of 15 shutouts.
The Yellowjackets are back in action with more UMAC play on Wednesday, Oct. 11 against Northwestern. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Reynolds Field.
