SUPERIOR, Wis. --Â Bethany Lutheran had four players score in double figures, including getting a game-high 20 points off the bench from Justin Schrupp, to beat the UW-Superior men's basketball team, 74-65, Saturday in a battle of the top two teams in the UMAC at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.

Schrupp shot 6-for-10 from the field and was 5-for-9 from the 3-point range to help the Vikings fend off a strong second-half push from UWS (13-8, 7-3 UMAC).

Trailing, 47-38, with 11:22 to play following a Schrupp trey, a triple by junior
J'Vaun Walker (Rosharon, Texas/Manvel) started an 8-0 run that pulled the Yellowjackets to within 53-52 with 10:01 left. Walker added four more points and sophomore
Andrew Kunelius (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia) a 3-pointer in transition in the run.

From there, Bethany Lutheran (18-3, 9-1) rebuilt its advantage to six prior to
Reid Johnson (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) splashing a 3 off of a
T.J. Moberg (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) assist with 6:02 left to make it a 62-59. Johnson followed with a bucket in transition -- after a
Josef Fahrenholtz (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) steal -- to for a 62-61 deficit. Schrupp followed another 3-pointer -- assisted by former Yellowjacket
Mason Ackley (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) -- and a pair of free throws as UWS was unable to punch back and BLC knocked down 5-of-6 from the stripe to ensure the win.

Walker led Superior with 19 points while Fahrenholtz added 15 points four rebounds and three steals in the loss. Jax Madson (12 points) and Drew Sagedahl and Hunter Nielsen (11 points apiece) also scored double figures for the Vikings.Â

Bethany shot 48 percent for the game and canned 11 3-pointers, converting 15 turnovers in 21 points.Â

The Vikings scored the first seven points of the game after which UWS came roaring back with seven of its own to tie.
Joey Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) completed a three-point play at the 14:05 mark to do the honors. Johnson scored the next three points to give UWS its largest lead on the day.

BLC rallied for the next nine, capping the spurt with a Thomas Datka trey, for a 16-10 lead. Fahrenholtz cut the deficit to 23-20 with 7:56 left in the half, but Schrupp hit a 3-pointer to extend the edge to 33-22 wih 3:01 left.Â
