PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior men's soccer team was on the road to face UW-Platteville for a 3 p.m. kickoff Sunday. Starting the season off with a couple of close matches, the Yellowjackets found themselves in a similar position, playing to a 1-1 draw against the Pioneers at Ralph. E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Following a scoreless first half, sophomore
Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) would be the first to find the back of the net to put the Yellowjackets up 1-0 at the 58th minute. Kidd, notching his first goal of the season, fired a shot that snuck past the Pioneer goalkeeper after making an acrobatic save following a corner kick.
Just one minute after the Jackets' goal, Lucas Schoeneberg of UW-Platteville would sneak a header past
Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) to even up the match, courtesy of Danny Gutzwiller's corner kick.
An equal match from start to finish, shot attempts were 14-13 Platteville. Shots on goal were 9-7 Superior.
Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) made six saves.
Up next for the Yellowjackets, they are back on the road visiting North Central University Wednesday, Sept. 13. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Eliot Park Field in Minneapolis, Minn.
