MORRIS, Minn. – The Yellowjacket men's soccer team continued conference play Saturday, facing off against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) competitor Minnesota Morris. The 'Jackets scored three goals in the first half and one in the second half on their way to defeating the Cougars 4-0.

Saturday's win extends the Yellowjacket winning streak against Minnesota Morris to nine-straight matches.

It didn't take long for the Yellowjackets to strike, as seven minutes into the game junior midfielder
Mackie Ringrose (Ewhurst, England/St. Peter's Catholic School) fired a shot that beat Cougar goalkeeper Nick Isensee for an early 1-0 lead. Senior
Andy Rowland (Andover, Minn./Andover) and junior
Harry Ambler (Reading, England/Little Heath School) were tagged with the assists.

Roughly 15 minutes later, the Yellowjackets would find the net again, as sophomore
Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) would capitalize off a feed from Ringrose and give the 'Jackets a 2-0 lead.

In the 29th minute, it was
Gavin Watkinson (Lakeville, Minn./Farmington Area) who found the back of the net for the Yellowjackets. Ringrose would tally an assist on the goal, extending the 'Jackets lead 3-0.

The Yellowjackets came out firing in the first half, shooting 13 shots opposed to none from Minnesota Morris. Ringrose and Watkinson each fired three shots with one shot on frame.

Scoring the final goal for UW-Superior was
Joel Thomas (Cardiff, Wales/Islwyn) in the 69th minute. This unassisted goal would shut the door and secure the UMAC victory.

During the second half the Cougars would shoot five shots, but only two made the mark as goalkeeper
Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) picked up the clean sheet, giving him a 2-1-2 record on the season.

Leading the offensive attack was Thomas, firing four shots with three on target. Five different Yellowjackets ended the afternoon with three shots, and Ringrose compiled four points during the match.

The Yellowjackets return home to face Northwestern Sept. 19. Kickoff at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex is set for 4:30 p.m.
