SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) revealed its award winners for the opening week of the 2023-24 season. Sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Clark (Duluth Minn./Duluth East) was named the circuit's Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Blu Anderson (Amery, Wis./Amery) was named the UMAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week in an announcement Tuesday.
For Clark, this is her first weekly award on the 2023 season and second of her Yellowjacket career.
Clark played the full 90 minutes against her previous team Gustavus Adolphus Sunday. She surrendered just one goal, saving fourteen for a .867 save percentage.
Anderson earns his first athlete of the week citation during his first collegiate tournament. The Yellowjacket newcomer shot an even-par 72 in his collegiate debut and recorded a 2-under-par 70 in the second round of action. Additionally, Anderson compiled seven birdies on the weekend and was one of just five golfers to score under par, helping the 'Jackets earn a fifth place finish at the Augsburg Invitational.
The Yellowjacket women's soccer team is back in action tomorrow as they take on Augsburg. Kick off at Edor Nelson Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Yellowjacket men's golf team is back in action this weekend hosting the Twin Ports Collegiate Sept. 9-10. Tee times are set for 12 p.m Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday at Nemadji Golf Course.
