Box Score SAINT PETER, Minn. – Yesterday afternoon, the UW-Superior men's soccer team took to the turf for a historic match, celebrating the grand opening of the Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium. This game marked a long-awaited and monumental moment, with excitement that had been built up.  

 With a quick turnaround, the Yellowjackets hit the road for a non-conference match up with Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday afternoon. Gustavus came into the match unbeaten and ranked No. 6 in the country.

On a gloomy and very windy day at the Gusties Soccer Field, both teams were faced with up to 40 miles per hour winds this afternoon. The Gusties put up a physical battle and would snap the Yellowjackets eight game win streak, pushing past the 'Jackets 2-1.

Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy) would net the lone goal for the Yellowjackets off a penalty kick. This was Bellamy's fourth penalty kick he has made this year.
The Yellowjackets are now 9-3-2 overall and 8-0-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).

Yellowjacket goalkeeper Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead), got the start and is now 7-3-2 in net. Paredes faced eight attempted shots and would be credited with three saves.
 
Match Notes

• Gustavus Adolphus made the first strike of the game in the 33rd minute of play as Jared Hecht worked his way around the UWS defenders and Rivaldo Pena picked up the fumbled ball in front of the net then fired a shot past Paredes to the right side of the net giving them the 1-0 lead.
• Hacht, for the Gusties, would net one of his own as he split the UWS defenders for a fast break then fired the ball past Paredes to the center of the net to give the Gusties a 2-0 lead.
• Felipe Oliveira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Soma) was tripped in the box, giving the Yellowjackets a penalty shot. Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy), in the 82nd minute of the match, took the penalty shot for UWS, firing the ball past the Gustavus goalkeeper, bring the Yellowjackets back within a goal of the Gusties.
• The fouls and cards given out were a true testament for how physical this match was. The Gusties were given 11 fouls to the Yellowjackets' 10. Gustavus was carded with six yellows and UWS was carded four. Hacht, for Gustavus, was also given a red with eight minutes left in the match.

The Yellowjackets are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 16, facing Northwestern as they enter back into UMAC play. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium.
