ASHLAND, Wis. – The Yellowjacket volleyball team hit the road Tuesday, taking on Northland in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action. The 'Jackets enter the match second in league standings, winning their last four contests.

UWS improved their winning streak to five, defeating the LumberJills 3-0 inside Kendrigan Gym.

Match Notes
- The Yellowjackets would strike first, courtesy of a kill from Sydney Smith (Milltown, Wis./Unity). The LumberJills countered and knotted things up at 2-2, but the 'Jackets would regain the lead after a combination of kills and LumberJill attack errors.
- Addy Gangl (Nashwauk, Minn./Nashwauk-Keewatin) logged a kill to make things 9-2, and from there UWS took off. Marena Saeger (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) and Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) would join the party, helping build a 14-6 advantage.
- Ella Kapus (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) subbed in and logged a kill on the very next play, who was followed by Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford), increasing the lead to 22-7. Kills from Carlie Lohman (South Range, Wis./Superior) and Smith would secure the first set victory of 25-8.
- Set number two saw the 'Jackets score three straight, coming off two kills from Hohbein. Kate Jamtgaard (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) checked into the game and garnered a kill after taking a feed from Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool), making things 4-1.
- NC stayed within arm's reach mid-set, but Smith and Hohbein helped extend the lead to 16-10. The LumberJills scored three consecutive points, but the 'Jackets got them right back, ultimately leading 21-14. Another four-point rally from UWS shut the door on the second set, earning a 25-17 win.
- Northland led the early stages of the third, jumping to an 8-5 lead. Maddie Hunter (Anoka, Minn./Anoka), alongside Gangl and Hohbein collected kills to help UWS regain the lead at 9-8.
- As both teams volleyed the lead back and forth, Smith and Rilie Kupka (Eagan, Minn./Burnsville) logged points to lead 14-11. From there, the Yellowjackets wouldn't look back.
- A combination of Yellowjacket kills and LumberJill miscues aided UW-Superior's eight-point charge, leading 24-13. Despite a Superior service error, the 'Jackets saw Lizzy Schmidt (Twin Lakes, Wis./Wilmot Union) dish a pass to Stark who finished the match at 25-14.
- This was the tenth match of the season the Yellowjackets swept an opponent in straight sets.
- UWS swung at a .270 clip, as Stark led the charge with 11 kills. Smith and Hohbein each finished with nine.
- Claude and Schwirtz added 18 and 16 assists under their belt, respectively.
- Jenna Anderson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) grabbed 23 digs on the evening, while Hohbein logged 10 and Jada Anderson (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) garnered seven.

The Yellowjackets return home on Saturday, hosting North Central and Northwestern in UMAC play. The opening serve against the Rams is set for noon, while the opening serve against the Eagles is set for 5 p.m., inside the Mertz.
