NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team played its final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, traveling to St. Olaf. This marked the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
On an unseasonably warm fall day, with temperatures climbing to a surprising 80 degrees, the Yellowjackets battled hard but ultimately fell 1-0 to the Oles at Rolf Melby Field. Despite the heat, the Yellowjackets pushed forward with determination, generating several quality scoring opportunities that kept the pressure on St. Olaf's defense. However, the Oles managed to hold their lead, securing the narrow victory in a tightly-contested match.
After this afternoon's matchup, the Yellowjackets are now12-7-0 overall record with a dominant 10-1-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play. Last weekend, they secured the UMAC regular-season title by shutting out Martin Luther, marking their fourth consecutive UMAC championship. The Yellowjackets are now set to host a semifinal match on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at SCCU Stadium.
Yellowjacket goalkeeper,
Quinn Clark (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) started the match and is now 6-4-0 in net. Clark ended the afternoon facing 23 attempted shots, making seven saves.
