SUPERIOR, Wis. – Two members of the Yellowjacket men's soccer team were sent to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization revealed Tuesday.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and junior forward Freddy Watson (Wendover, England/Berkshire College of Agriculture) received both academic and athletic honors from the CSC for the second time in their Yellowjacket careers.

Paredes, a Business Administration major who holds a 3.585 grade point average, has seen 20 starts in net for the Yellowjackets. Accumulating 1,668 minutes on the season to date, he has allowed just 14 goals and saved 62 opposing shots, resulting in a 0.76 goals-against-average and a save percentage of 81.6. As the program's all-time leader in shutouts, Paredes has added seven more this season, boosting his career total to 24.

Watson maintains a 3.524 grade point average while studying both Psychology and Media Studies. Starting 22-of-23 matches played he has found the back of the net on 11 occasions, adding nine assists for 31 total points. The junior Englishman has logged 1,440 minutes on the pitch, taking 51 total shots with 30 on frame for a .216 shooting percentage.

The 2024 campaign for the Yellowjackets has been historic. Not only does UWS lead the nation in most offensive categories, but they also became the first soccer team in program history to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament. They take on the No. 8-ranked Amherst on Saturday, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Simpson Field on the campus of UW-Eau Claire.
