HOUSTON, Tex. – The Yellowjacket men's basketball team took on day two of their Texas trip, facing the University of St. Thomas (Tex.). The Celts entered Sunday's contest winning their first four games and utilized that momentum to push past UW-Superior by a 74-53 decision.

Game Notes
- The 'Jackets fell behind early, allowing the Celts to score 15 unanswered points to begin the contest. UWS saw points from J'Vaun Walker (Rosharon, Texas/Manvel), Slayton Stroschein (Alborn, Minn./South Ridge) and Ty Melchert (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) to help get them back on track.
- St. Thomas led by 22 points heading into the final minutes of the first half before Joey Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) took a feed from Walker and finished a layup inside the paint, drawing a foul and finishing the three-point play at 35-19.
- Barker hit a three soon after he was sent to the line, then Reid Johnson (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) and Walker each drew fouls and converted both free throw attempts.
- After a few minutes of the second half elapsed, the Yellowjacket offense began to kick things into gear. Walker, along with Andrew Kunelius (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia), brought UWS within nine at 41-32 until the Celts extended their lead.
- Micah Young (Minneapolis, Minn./Edison) nailed a three pointer from Stroschein later in the contest, then Stroschein finished a layup to come within seven points of St. Thomas. From there the Celts opened things back up, but Superior continued to counter.
- After the Yellowjackets missed a three pointer, Landen Thomer (Mosinee, Wis./Mosinee) drew a foul and sunk a shot at the line before the Celts converted a handful of layups to earn a 74-53 win inside the Jerabeck Center.
- Walker ended his afternoon with 13 points, while Barker had 10 and Melchert scored nine.
- UWS shot 44.4 percent from field goal range, while St. Thomas ended with a 50.9 percentage.

The Yellowjackets will return to the court Saturday, taking on Ripon College. The opening tip is slated for 3 p.m. inside Doc Weiske Memorial Gymnasium.
