Paredes, Bellamy, Kidd Spearhead United Soccer Coaches Regional Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tuesday the United Soccer Coaches revealed its all-region awards in men's soccer, and five different Yellowjackets were tabbed to the organization's list in Region IX.
 
Seniors Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy), alongside junior Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior) were slated to the all-region first team. Earning second team honors was senior Harry Ambler (Reading, England/Little Heath School), while Freddy Watson (Wendover, England/Berkshire College of Agriculture) picked up a fourth team citation.
 
Paredes emerged as one of the region's best goalkeepers in his senior season, picking up his first honor from the United Soccer Coaches in 2024. Garnering 1,777 minutes on the pitch in 21 starts, he faced 175 shots and saved 71. Paredes ends his collegiate career sitting atop the Yellowjacket record book in total goalkeeper wins (58), shutouts (24), goalkeeper minutes played (6,622), goals-allowed average (0.86), and most goalkeeper minutes played in a single season (1,777).
 
Bellamy logs his third honor from the United Soccer Coaches. Starting 23 matches of 24 played, he finished second on the Yellowjackets in goals (13) and assists (11) while logging 1,577 minutes on the pitch. He fired 73 total shots on the year with 37 on frame, equating to a .178 shooting percentage. Furthermore, Bellamy collected his fourth-straight All-UMAC First Team selection in as many years as a Yellowjacket.
 
Kidd displayed the best collegiate season at UW-Superior in 2024. Starting all 24 matches, he averaged a goal a match, scoring 24 while adding two assists for 50 points. He capped his junior season with a conference-leading .308 shooting percentage, while ranking second in goals scored in NCAA Division III. For his efforts, he was slated to the All-UMAC First Team for the second-straight season.
 
Ambler garnered his first award from the United Soccer Coaches in his senior season. Starting 20-of-21 matches, he spearheaded a backline that allowed just 0.76 goals and 7.6 shots per match. On ten occasions, Ambler played the full match as he commandeered the Yellowjackets' defensive efforts. He was awarded with his first All-UMAC First Team distinction in 2024 after garnering three-straight second team selections.
 
Watson earned the first United Soccer Coaches honor in his junior year. Starting 23-of-24 matches played, he tabbed 11 goals with nine assists for 31 total points. Rifling 51 total shots, he logged 30 on frame for a shooting percentage of .216 in 1,538 minutes on the pitch. Watson finished the season ranking third in goals, shots and points, while taking second in game-winning goals with four.
 
The Yellowjackets made history in 2024, becoming the first team in UW-Superior's and the UMAC's history to advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Furthermore, the Yellowjacket men's soccer team led all three NCAA Divisions in total goals scored, while leading NCAA Division III in most offensive categories. UWS ended the campaign with an overall record of 18-4-3.
