River Falls Scores Five Against Yellowjackets

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's hockey team hit the road to play their final regular season matchup with No. 1 UW-River Falls Saturday. After scoring three goals in the first period alone, UW-River Falls was able to keep their undefeated streak alive and remain the number one team in the nation, defeating the Yellowjackets 5-0 inside W.H. Hunt Arena.
 
Game Notes
  • Cora Coz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) led the 'Jackets in shots tonight, rifling three shots at Falcon goaltender Jordan O'Connor.
  • Gaby Andreacchi (Thunder Bay, Ontario/St. Patrick) and Jenna Hoops (Woodbury, Minn./Visitation School) also fired shots at O'Connor early on, but she held her own and thwarted any goals from sneaking past.
  • Megan Goodreau, Alex Hantge and Maddie McCollins each scored for the Falcons in the first. McCollins' goal was scored on the power play.
  • Yellowjacket goaltender Rose Beeman (Minneapolis, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's School) got the start in net Saturday, making 48 saves.
  • O'Connor saved all nine shots she faced, earning her sixth shutout on the campaign.
  • Hantge and Madison Kadrlik scored the final two goals for UW-River Falls, both coming in the second period.
  • Both teams took a combined 14 penalties in the hockey game.
  • Hoops was 50% on faceoffs (12-24) during the contest.
  • Jordann Swingle (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) and Lucy Drougas (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) blocked two shots on the evening, while four other Yellowjackets also recorded a block.
 
The Yellowjackets (4-16-1, 1-6-1 WIAC) will return to Wessman Arena for the final four games of the regular season. They play host to UW-Stevens Point Friday, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
