MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—The Yellowjackets returned to play Saturday at Xcel Field Park, for the remainder of their weekend series. Seeing Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponent North Central for a doubleheader, the 'Jackets would secure the sweep with convincing numbers. With final scores of 27-3 and 19-1 both in just five innings, the Yellowjackets advance to 17-7 overall, 6-0 in conference. With Saturday's wins, in the last eight years the Yellowjackets have advanced their overall record with North Central to 19-0.
Game One Notes
- The Yellowjackets would tally five homeruns in the first game of the doubleheader. Two would come from MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset), two from Zoe Thomson (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) and one from Larissa Snyder (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park). Leccia now sits at four homeruns on the season and Thomson and Snyder at three.
- In the first inning, four homeruns were hit between the two teams, three from the Yellowjackets and one from the Rams.
- Snyder would total three hits, four runs and six RBI for the Yellowjackets.
- Jessica Jacobson (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Southern Door) would have four runs.
- Emma Pillion (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa Township) got the start in the circle for the Yellowjackets and would pitch the complete game earning the win. She would allow just three hits and three runs. Pillion's record moves to 4-3.
Game Two Notes
- North Central would score their only run in the first inning.
- The Yellowjackets had 19 runs, 16 hits and 0 errors, while the Rams had one hit, one run and seven errors.
- The Yellowjackets opened the flood gates in the fifth inning, scoring eight runs.
- To start the scoring in the fifth, Ellie Macal (Winona, Minn./Cotter) tripling to the left, scoring Leccia, earning the RBI. Baylee O'Donnell (Mendota Hights, Minn./Richfield) and Indigo Fish (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) followed with back-to-back doubles each bringing in a run.
- Norah Schmitz (Carver County, Minn./Waconia) would follow with a homerun for her first of the year, scorning Fish for the RBI.
- Georgia Youngblood (Ray, Mich./Lutheran North) got the start in the circle and allowed just one hit and one run. Her record is now 2-0.
