MANKATO, Minn.—The Yellowjacket Softball team was back for more Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action on Friday afternoon. The Yellowjackets would fall 8-0 in game one of the three-game series with Bethany Lutheran.
After Friday's loss the Yellowjackets sit 22-12 overall and 11-5 in conference play.
Game Notes
- Ellie Macal (Winona, Minn./Cotter) would have the lone hit for the Yellowjackets.
- In the first inning, Haley Stockman singled up the middle advancing Emily Doyle and scoring Katelyn Halbach and Sydney Jacobs.
- For Bethany Lutheran, Ana Christofferson singled and advanced to second on the throw. Stockman advanced to third and would score Anna Lee to increase the first inning lead 4-0.
- The Vikings earned one more run in the first inning with a groundout to third from Emily Nelson to score Christoferson. The Vikings led 5-0 to end the first inning.
- BLC scored two more runs in the second inning, starting with Halbach advancing to second on a throwing error, Jacobs scored on the play.
- Doyle singled down the right field line to score Halbach, giving the Vikings a 7-0 lead in the second inning.
- In the fifth inning Stockmam singled to left field scoring the final run to end the game for the final of 8-0.
- Samantha Swartz (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) got the start in the circle and was credited with the loss. Swartz's record now sits 7-3.
- Bella Garley (Albuquerque, N.M./Porter (Tex.)) would pitch the last three innings and would allow two hits, one run and no batters walked.
The Yellowjackets will finish the three-game series with Bethany Lutheran Saturday, May 4 with a doubleheader. First pitch at Thomas Park is set for noon, followed by game two set for 2 p.m.
