DULUTH, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's soccer team traveled across the bridge to Kenny Harkins Field Wednesday afternoon to face the Saints of St. Scholastica. Sunny and 78 with not a cloud in sight, the perfect weather agreed with the Yellowjackets, who downed the Saints 5-1, to notch their first win of the campaign. The Yellowjackets are now 1-1-2 overall and 0-0-0 in the UMAC.
Yellowjackets goalkeeper,
Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) got the start in net and finished with three saves in the match, all of them coming in first half. Paredes was credited with the win and now is 1-1-2 in net.
Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) would see his first minutes of the campaign, coming into the match in 79th minute to relieve Parades. Sessions would face zero shots on net.

- Before this afternoon's match the Yellowjackets and Saints sat .500 with their previous match ups. With this afternoon's win, the all-time record between these two teams is now 14-13 in favor of the Yellowjackets.
- The Yellowjackets outshot the Saints and attempted 26 of shots to the Saints' six.

- Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior) would join in on the scoring in the 56th minute of play with a low right shot to give the Yellowjackets a 3-1 lead.
- From outside the 18-yard box, Bryce Boldt (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) would fire a low left shot to find the back of the net to increase the score 4-1.
- In the 88th minute of the match, Kyle Massingham (Nuneaton, England/Future Pro College) from inside the box netted a low right shot to the back of the net, giving the Yellowjackets the final score of 5-1.
- Saints' goalkeeper Marco Hernandez finished with 26 shots faced. Ben Hallberg for the Saints would relieve Hernandez in the 76th minute and would allow two goals.
The Yellowjackets are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 14 as they travel to UW-Eau Claire. Kickoff against the Blugolds is set for 4 p.m. at Simpson Field.
