MOORHEAD, Minn. – The last time we saw the Yellowjacket women's hockey team in 2024, it was polishing off a weekend sweep of Concordia College at Wessman Arena. In the year's penultimate contest Dec. 13, the Yellowjackets edged the Cobbers 2-1, then completed the sweep with another one-goal win, 4-3 the following afternoon.
Â
After more than a week away from competition, the Yellowjacket women were back on the ice Tuesday, squaring off against Concordia for the third time this season, only on this occasion it was the Yellowjackets who had to travel.
Â
Different venue, but for UW-Superior, the result was the same.
Â
After falling behind in the opening minute of the game, the Yellowjackets worked their way back, getting the game winning goal on a late power play to defeat Concordia 3-2 Tuesday at the Moorhead Sports Center, completing a sweep of the regular season series between the teams.
Brynn MacLean (Wilcox, Saskatchewan/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame) scored her second goal of the game on the power play with just under a minute to play in regulation to provide the Yellowjackets with the winning margin. The win was the fifth in a row for the Yellowjackets (9-6-0, 1-3-0 WIAC), who will be playing conference games the rest of the way.
