SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Yellowjacket women' soccer team headed across the bridge to take on rival St. Scholastica in their annual battle for the golden anchor trophy. In their last four matchups with CSS, the 'Jackets have won three and tied another keeping the trophy on the Wisconsin side of the bridge. After today's match, the Yellowjackets would find themselves holding the trophy for another year as they took down the Saints 2-0.

Beth Schneider (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West) got the scoring started for UWS as she sent a bending ball into the back of net off a pass from Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) in the tenth minute.

UWS outshot CSS 25-17 on the afternoon and held a 15-9 advantage in shots on goal. Larson led the 'Jackets with five shots while Brynn Johnson (South Range, Wis./Superior) and Julia Lindow (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) had three.
The Yellowjackets (6-4-2, 5-0-1 UMAC) are next in action on Saturday as they head to St. Paul to take on Northwestern. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Reynolds Field.
