Yellowjackets Complete Season Sweep of Beloit

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Yellowjackets men's hockey team opened the 2026 portion of their schedule hosting Beloit. For Superior, this would be the third consecutive time they would face the Buccaneers. The Yellowjackets were able to sweep the season series against Beloit, taking this game by a score of 3-2.  

Game Notes: 

  • The Yellowjackets opened the scoring in the first period as Kade Shea (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) lit the lamp on assists from Chris Ishmael (Oakville, Ontario/Abbey Park Secondary School) and Daniel Rozsival (Chicago, Ill./North Shore Country Day).  

  • In the second period Beloit took a 2-1 lead on two goals from Max Von Klinggraeff one of which came on the power play.  

  • Andrew Larson (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) answered the Beloit goals with one of his own to tie the hockey game 2-2. Roope Tuomioksa (Tuusula, Finland/Mäkelänrinne Sports High) and Evan Axell (Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong) were credited with assists on the goal. 

  • Blake Setter (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal deflecting a shot from Ikki Kogawa (Chiba, Japan/Collingwood Collegiate Institute) into the back of the net. Kogawa and Dusty Bergstrom (Pine City, Minn./Pine City) were credited with assists.  

  • The 'Jackets outshot the Buccaneers 32-22 in the contest with Shea leading Superior with four while four 'Jackets contributed three shots each those players being Larson, Sam Brennan (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial), Matt Danziger (Potomac, Md./University of Nebraska High) and Collin Pederson (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna).  

  • Jack Boschert (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) earned the victory for UWS, making 20 saves in the contest.  

The Yellowjackets (8-5-1, 4-3-0 WIAC) are next in action on Friday night as they hit the road to take on Concordia (Minn.). The opening faceoff between the 'Jackets and Cobbers is set for 7 p.m. inside the Moorhead Sports Center.
