SUPERIOR, Wis. - Wednesday evening the Yellowjackets returned home for more non-conference action, this time with the Golden Gusties from Gustavus Adolphus. Despite the Gusties controlling the offensive game in the early stages of the first half, the Yellowjackets held them off to keep the match scoreless in the first 45 minutes. In the latter 45, the Yellowjackets turned things up a notch and began to apply pressure, but neither the Gusties nor the 'Jackets were able to find the back of the net, leading to a scoreless draw in Superior.
The Yellowjackets were led offensively by the trio of
Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield),
Reese Brekke (Stoughton, Wis./Hardin Valley) and
Lilly Breitkreutz (Sartell, Minn./Sartell), while
Baylee Nygard (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter) made 12 saves in the contest to shut down Gustavus Adolphus. GAC was led by Lauren Coy and Jordyn Shear, coming away with four and three shots, respectively.
The Yellowjackets are back in action Saturday as they resume conference play with a trip to Northwestern. The opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Reynolds Field.
