SUPERIOR, Wis. – In the final weeks of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season, the Yellowjacket men's hockey team played host to the Blue Devils from UW-Stout for a weekend series. The 'Jackets struck first late in the first period, but the Blue Devils scored three goals in the middle frame, giving them a 4-2 win inside Wessman Arena.
Game Notes
- Superior got a goal from Carson Riddle (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) with under a minute to go in the first, as Daniel Rozsival (Chicago, Ill./North Shore Country Day) sent him a pass for the 1-0 advantage.
- Three goals in just over five minutes allowed UW-Stout to take the lead at 3-1 until Collin Pederson (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) sent one under the pad of Blue Devils goaltender Sebastian Monaco to trail by just one at 3-2.
- Late in the third period the Yellowjackets opted for an extra skater and pulled goaltender Jan Skorpik (Brandýs nad Labem, Czechia/OA Prague), but Nicolas Pigeon fired one across ice for the fourth and final Stout goal.
- Riddle led with four shots while both Ikki Kogawa (Chiba, Japan/Collingwood Collegiate Institute) and Justin Dauphinais (Val Caron, Ontario/École Secondaire Catholique Horizon) had three on the evening.
- Skorpik fell to 6-6-1 as he took the loss Friday evening. He made 23 saves in the contest.
The Yellowjackets and Blue Devils are back at it Saturday night for the regular season finale. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
