Baseball Falls in UMAC Championship Game

MANKATO, Minn. - The Yellowjacket baseball team saw its season come to an end on championship Saturday, as they dropped a 10-4 decision to Bethany Lutheran on the final day of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Postseason Tournament.

Game Notes

  • The Vikings got on the board first as Xander Meissner hit a two-run shot to right field in the bottom of the first.

  • Superior cut the deficit in half with an RBI single from Paddy Kelly (Andover, Minn./Andover), plating Carter Thielke (Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls). Later in the third, Tanner Voight (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) leveled the scoring with an RBI single of his own.

  • Both teams traded a pair of solo homers in the fourth, as Brian O'Dwyer (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) hit a homer to the opposite field before Yunior Pena Torres hit one to even the game at 3-3.

  • In the sixth inning the Vikings took a lead of 9-3, garnering six runs off five hits.

  • Voight reached on a fielder's choice in the top of the ninth to plate the Yellowjackets' fourth run, but that would be all as the Vikings would win 10-4.

  • Both Thielke and Noah Dagostino (Andover, Minn./Andover) ended the day going 2-3.

  • Kevin Rahe (Princeton, Minn./Princeton) got the start for Superior, taking the loss after hurling 5.1 innings and allowing four runs. He gave way to the trio of Evan Cichanofsky (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port), Logan Zinsmaster (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial) and Ryker Ebert (Cameron, Wis./Cameron).

The Yellowjackets cap the 2026 campaign with an overall record of 27-14, which now stands as the most wins recorded in program history.
