DULUTH, Minn. – The Yellowjacket men's soccer team kicked off the 2026 campaign Tuesday, traveling across the bridge to face rival St. Scholastica at Kenny Harkins Field. The Yellowjackets had a strong first half, scoring three unanswered goals. The second half featured the 'Jackets score two more before the Saints made things interesting in the final 20 minutes, but Superior maintained its lead and came away with a 5-4 victory.

- Seth Davidson (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) broke the scoring open in the 14th minute, finding the back of the net before Bryce Boldt (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) answered with a goal of his own.
- Jay'ce Jones (Torrance, Calif./Palisades Charter) logged his first goal as a Yellowjacket in the 28th minute of play, bringing the match to 3-0.
- At the 53rd minute, Davidson logged his second goal after receiving assists from Boldt and Valentin Soares (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Equipe).
- St. Scholastica's Parker Chastey scored at the 66th minute of play, but Davidson countered just a minute later after Melvin Andersson (Kalmar, Sweden/Stagneliusskolan) and Jones served him up with a cross from the right side.
- Three more goals came from the Saints, but the Yellowjackets were able to fend them off for the remainder of the match for a 5-4 victory.
- Davidson finished with seven points, including a hat trick to lead the 'Jackets. Boldt logged two goals of his own along with an assist.
- Luke Lockman (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and Henry Ruhland (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) manned the goal Tuesday, playing an even 45 minutes.
The Yellowjackets are on the road Friday where they take on No. 22 UW-Eau Claire. The opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Simpson Field.
